Research Process
Contact hospital leadership to identify key stakeholders for each department
Interview key stakeholders regarding current procedures around the time of death for bedside staff
Group interview bereavement commitee members
Compile data and categorize by themes
Identify usability needs for prototyping
Deliver findings to the design team
Create open-ended survey to attach to prototype when testing
Compile usability survey answers and deliver findings to the design team
One-on-one interviews during the EHR beta testing phase
Compile data during testing phase with use errors and successes
Design Process
List all necessary tasks in the process
Draft a prototype check list in Microsoft Word to be saved as a PDF
Print prototype and attach usability survey for a one month testing phase
Update the design based on usability feedback
Integrate design into the EHR
Collaborate with department leadership for education and training for awareness and use
Make final updates to the design for increased usability and appearance
